Hishashiburi! Greeting from the Land of the Rising Sun!

Today mark my third time celebrating one of the many big festive in my life 5131 km away from my home country and my family. Yes, that is roughly the distance from Japan to Malaysia. After 12 years residing in Germany, studying and finally working there, my husband decided early this year that he needed a 'wind of change', a change in his career and a few months later here we are in this land of the rising sun. The only regret I had was having a short time to say goodbye to all good memories and good friends we had back in Germany.

Yeah well, migrating is not all about rainbows and butterfly like most of people thought. Especially when it involves moving to a foreign country, or in our case we even moving out of a continent! The very first step of applying visa is already an exasperating process. We spent 8 hours driving two ways to Kuala Lumpur just to be told that we have to proceed with the application at Consulate General of Japan in Penang. Lesson learnt buddy! Next time be sure to read the embassy website THOROUGHLY (meticulously word by word is advisable!!). So we dashed to Penang the next day. It took only 15 minutes to hand over all the documents (we already had our Certificate of Eligibility by the time we applied for visa) and we had to wait 3 working days before we can collect them. That is the only obstacle we had during visa application. Once we arrived in the Haneda Airport, we were immediately issued the Resident Cards at the immigration counter. How efficient!!!! Okay, that is only a small portion of bureaucratic process and we still have a loooooooooooooong way to go before we can settle down comfortably.

Nevertheless, I'm still adjusting myself to this new lifestyle and thank God I've never had a problem with food. Bless me I am a munch machine yooo!! I'll update on that later!!

That's it for now!

Sayonaraaaaaaaaaaa!!

xoxo,

-Ith
